If you’re looking to mount a variety of accessories directly into the side rail, then this is the best option for you. In some cases the roof rack side rails allow you to fit the load carrier feet directly onto them, while in other cases they need to be used with the crossbar system to attach your load carrier feet or bike carriers.
In addition to the roof rack, you can also mount a variety of accessories directly into the side rail. For example, you may want to add a bike carrier or ski/snowboard holder to easily carry your equipment.

The type of load bars you have will determine which side rail you need. If your vehicle has pre-existing crossbars or other mounting points, then all four (or more) corners can be used as tie-down points; however, if there aren't any mounting points on your car, only two out of four corners will have room for tie-downs and these are called "load bar" versions because they each include an integrated load bar at each end where a hitch would normally sit.
We also offer "no-load bar" versions that come with no built-in tie-down points so they're ideal if you want maximum flexibility in how many mounts/hitch mounts/tie-down points etc., you install on them (e.g., if you buy 3 different types from us).
